Will you make it out?
The day started out normally enough, but it didn’t take more than one cup of coffee before you realized that calamity had struck.
Zombies flooded the street… some kind of medical accident run amok? You get a clear alert on your phone: there’s a military bunker 60 miles north of the city and they’re accepting survivors.
The streets are blocked with derelict vehicles so you’ll have to go on foot. You grab your “go” bag and prepare to head out. Only one question remains: do you bring friends or go it alone?
Outbreak medals are always earned, never given
The Outbreak: Escape is a distance-based race. You have 30 days maximum to cover 60 miles (approximately 120,000 total steps at 3000 to 4000 steps per day). Finish within the maximum time allowed and we’ll mail you an epic finishers medal. The faster you finish, the better your score.
NOTE: You must complete the race in the allotted time to earn your medal.
Medal for finishers
Verified steps only
The Outbreak syncs steps and workouts from Apple Health (iOS) and Google Fit (Android), which connect activity from hundreds of fitness trackers and apps.
And because Apple Health and Google Fit can sync steps directly from the smartphone’s internal pedometer, using a fitness tracker is purely optional.
Outbreak medals are always earned, never given. Manual step entry is disabled for this race.
Does The Outbreak require a fitness tracker?
No. For users who don’t have a discreet fitness tracker (like a Fitbit), The Outbreak can use the smartphone’s internal pedometer to track activity. For users who do have a fitness tracker, The Outbreak connects to Apple Health (iOS) and Google Fit (Android), which each sync data from hundreds of fitness trackers and apps.
What’s the difference between Outbreak challenges and virtual races?
The Outbreak has two distinct ways to play:
- Duration-based: Challenge missions require players to stay active for a set amount of time, ranging from 2-6 weeks in length, depending on the mission.
- Team-based: Challenge missions have a minimum team size of 3 players.
- No swag is included: Challenge missions do not come with medals or other collectibles.
OUTBREAK VIRTUAL RACES
- Distance-based: Virtual race missions require players to reach a certain distance and they end immediately when the distance is reached.
- Play solo or on teams: Virtual race missions can be played both solo and with teams.
- Medals are included for finishers: Virtual race missions come with medals for those who complete the race.
When are medals and t-shirts shipped out?
When you complete an Outbreak virtual race, your medal will be shipped to the purchaser’s address. Orders are typically shipped within 4 business days of completion.
Note: medals are only included with Outbreak virtual races and are not included with Outbreak challenges, and you must finish the virtual race to earn a medal.
T-shirts are an optional add-on. If you opt to purchase t-shirts along with your race, you have the option to receive both at the same time for a reduced shipping cost. Otherwise you can pay an extra fee to ship your t-shirts immediately. Like medals, t-shirts are typically shipped within 4 business days.
Since medals are earned by finishing virtual races, what happens if I don’t finish?
Each Outbreak virtual race has a maximum time limit in which you must cover the race’s distance. You must finish the race within the maximum time limit to earn your medal.
If you don’t finish, you will be emailed a retry code that will allow you to retry the virtual race for free.
Can I purchase more race seats later if I don’t know how many people are going to participate right now?
Yes! Once you’ve purchased an event, there’s a user-friendly event admin area where you can add more participants to your group code.
Why do you ask for the primary time zone?
Some game mechanics, like daily step goals, require a cutoff time to transition to the next day or week long period. We recommend that you choose the time zone where most of your group will be.
Is The Outbreak family friendly?
Yes. The tone and visuals are all family friendly.
